Then we came across this infographic published by LearnStuff who detailed their findings on how social media is destroying productivity within our workplace.
The concern for business is the increasing prevalence of Facebook and, newer entrant, Pinterest disrupting workflows and, in our students, hours of study.
The juggernaut of social media is an iceberg to business – on the surface it appears relatively insignificant but as these and other stats demonstrate it is cruelling our workplace, stifling creativity and innovation and channeling copious amounts of hours into what can only be described as white noise.
It appears Facebook and other social platforms are here to stay, but how business can moderate its use, even integrate them to become a profit centre within the business is the next outpost of strategic thinkers.
