Mother’s day shouldn’t be the only day of the year when mum is number one, but it’s a day you should spend making sure your mum knows you love her just as much, if not more, than you did when you were a kid.

The Active Mum

Whether your mum is (enviously) fit or just the ourdoors-y type, the Mothers Day Classic is the perfect way to kick off this Sunday.

Pick your pace (a walk or run) and join thousands of other mums and their kids in a 4 or 8 km loop around The Domain, all the while raising funds and awareness for breast cancer.

If you’re looking to treat your active mum to something really special, why not surprise her with a day hike through the serene and beautiful Blue Mountains, followed by a warm drink at one of Leura‘s cosy cafe’s.

The Arty Mum

If your mum has a passion for art of any variety, you’re bound to find something she’d love to do for mothers day in Sydney.

Inspire mum with a trip to Brett Whiteley’s exhibition The nude: erotic, sensual and sacredJeff Wall’s  Photographs in The Rocks, or the latest Archibald prize winner at the NSW art gallery.

If mum is more into hands on, be sure to check out Retro Crafternoons, a Newtown Studio brainchild incorporating pendant, brooch and ring making as well as champagne and afternoon tea!

The Mum Who Needs a Break!

Whether it’s your wife looking after young kids or your mum looking after your kids, give her a bit of well deserved R & R this weekend.

It might be a couples hot stone massage at one of Sydney’s premier day spas, an evening at the State Theatre or a hot air balloon ride, but make sure the mum in your life feels like a queen this Sunday.
